With more than 411 people killed on New Mexico roads in 2007, it is truly disappointing that AAA car insurance has announced it will stop offering safety classes in January 2008.

The classes were clearly popular with an estimated 3,200 drivers attending every year, these drivers will now have to look elsewhere for safe driver training and car insurance discounts.

AAA car insurance will now offer an online class instead of the in-person classes. Local instructors wonder if AAA car insurance has missed the mark this time with the majority of attendees being drivers over the age of 55, how many will bother to take the class online?

Most class attendees go for the discount that was offered on their car insurance rates, others attended at their employers request for a discount on their company’s car insurance rates. All left with a better understanding of safe driving.
